Library Services

 

The Los Angeles Film School Library seeks to provide the following services that support the LAFS community with the best possible environment and resources for research.

Circulation

The Library provides Circulation Services to the LAFS community by lending library materials to Active Students, Faculty, and Staff. Additionally, Library Staff members at the circulation desk are responsible for answering directional questions from patrons, checking in and out materials, maintaining the front desk and facility, and overall helping with patron needs. LIBRARY KOHA CATALOG

All LAFS members have access to the Library Koha Catalog. The catalog is used to find materials based on author, title, subject, or format. If you cannot find an item that you are looking for in the catalog, you can make a Purchase Suggestion within Koha once you are logged in. You may also Ask A Librarian if you need additional help. Equipment

The Library has several supplies and equipment for patrons to borrow within the facility. The following resources may be used within the Library: pens, pencils, tape, scissors, sharpener, scratch paper, phone chargers, stapler, 3-hole puncher, cutting board, headphones, external DVD/CD player, Apple adapters, iMac Apple desktop computers, and course reserve equipment. Printing & Scanning

All LAFS members may print at the Library or any other location that has a printer nearby. Students and Alumni are responsible to add money to their Printing Account either via the Cashier’s Office or Online payment. Click below to learn how to print and add money to your print funds.

Study Space

The Library provides several spaces for patrons to study, work independently or in a small group setting, or for leisure purposes. There are 10 computer stations available on a first-come, first-served basis: 10 Apple iMacs with available software. There are also 2 Apple Macbooks available for quick access and printing services. In addition, there are 3 empty tables for individuals who do not need a Library computer. There are a few more tall table seats (6) available just right outside the Library's hallway, which can be used for quiet study, eating, and working on things. Library Support

The Library Assistants and Library Student Workers can provide assistance with basic logins and software that the school provides. In addition, if patrons need any general information or need research help, they may ask Library Staff for assistance. Library Staff can be reached via in-person, phone, and email. Please note that the Library is not responsible for completing any student assignments. Click below to view more.
