This year marks the United States' 76th annual observance of National Mental Health Awareness Month. It began in 1979 with the intentions of raising awareness of mental illnesses, and every year since then has helped to educate the American population about these very real struggles.
The theme of 2025's Mental Health Awareness Month is Turn Awareness into Action and aims to celebrate “the progress we’ve made in recognizing the importance of mental health—and challenging us to turn understanding into meaningful steps toward change.” Mental Health America 2025.
