Observed on September 17, Constitution Day & Citizenship Day mark the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. Each year, educational institutions across the country participate in programs to recognize the importance of this historic document and reflect on the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. In fact, the United States Congress and the President enacted a provision of law requiring every institution receiving federal funds to hold an educational program on this day.

This guide brings together resources, articles, videos, and recommended readings for both students and staff to learn more about the Constitution, the First Amendment, and how these freedoms continue to shape creative expression, media, and civic life today.
